Game 9 - 99ers vs Dofassco Steelhawks
Well what an unfortunate end to a busy hockey weekend (between select and house league, our boys were on the ice 5 times in three days). Although our boys played hard this team (who we hadn't played before) reminded us the importance of staying focused, skating hard and most importantly that we need to play as a team. Team play against tough teams like this means knowing our positions and passing the puck.
Dofassco stared the scoring off early in the first period with a goal four minutes in but we were quick to follow up with a lovely goal Ashton W with assist going to William R and Owen T. Dofassco managed to put one more in and started the second period with a lead of one goal.
Second period was non stop end to end action. Our boys kept the pressure on with lots of shots on their net, digging hard in the corners and did a great job on player coverage. Our hard work paid off with tying goal with only seconds left in the period scored by William R and assisted by Matthew M and Ethan H.
Third period started with a goal by Dofassco and although our boys tried real hard we couldn't manage to get on past their goalie. Great game by both Sebastian and Cole in the net and although we did not win the game the boys were still having a great time and the dressing room was still filled with laughs, smiles and cheers of "any day at the rink is a GREAT DAY!" Final score 3 Steelhawks 2 99ers!
