Facility Updates for City of Brantford and County of Brant
In response to the rapidly spreading and highly transmissible Omicron variant, updates to the Arena Protocols are required. Please see below updates for City of Brantford and County of Brant updates that go into effect beginning Sunday, December 19, 2021.
City of Brantford
Please read the Arena Protocols update carefully. Changes include:
As of Sunday, December 19, concessions at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre/Civic Centre Arena/Lions Park Arena are closed.
Lookout Lounge restaurant at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre will be limited to 50% capacity and must close by 11:00 p.m. Alcoholic beverages will not be served after 10:00 p.m.
No external food/drink permitted in spectator and non-sport areas of any City facility. All will be asked to consume their food/drink outside the facility or dispose of it.
Eating/drinking is not permitted at this time.
Players/participants will be able to consume water/sports drink while on the playing surface.
Capacity limits in all City facilities will be limited to 50%.
No dryland training will be permitted in common areas of the facility.
As of December 20, 2021, coaches, officials, volunteers and youth 12 to 17 years old are required to show proof of identification and vaccination or exemption to enter a recreational facility for purposes including organized recreational sport. Examples of proof of identification are a birth certificate, citizenship card, driver’s license, Government-issued identification card such as health card, Indian Status Card/Indigenous Member Card, Passport and permanent resident card. Student cards will not be accepted. Everyone who enters will still be required to perform screening and contact tracing.
Note for clarification: For children born in 2010 who are participating in activities that require proof of vaccinations, they will be required to provide proof of vaccination 12 weeks after their 12th birthday.
As of January 4, 2022, the City of Brantford will only accept the QR code issued by the Province of Ontario as proof of vaccination to enter a recreational facility. To download your QR code, please visit https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/.
Entry Process: We will continue to have teams and rentals meet at front INFO desk doors (Mon-Fri prior to 4:30pm) or outside the west entrance (depending day and time of your rental) to complete COVID questions screening and contact tracing. Athletes, coaching staff, volunteers, officials and spectators will be asked to have their ID and vaccine proof ready and will show the staff member or security at the door both ID and passport prior to entering. Upon completion, all athletes and coaches will come through the front/west doors and will proceed to the desk or the door staff table. INFO desk staff or West entrance door staff will collect the screening sheet for record keeping and the team can proceed into the Facility. All organized sports game officials will enter and sign the screening sheet at the table and proceed into the Facility.
Players/coaching staff can arrive 30 minutes prior to your ice time and need to vacate within 30 minutes following the end of your ice time.
Civic Centre and Lions Park - Players/coaching staff can enter through the front doors of the Civic Centre/Lions Park, and can arrive 30 minutes prior to your rental and must exit 30 minutes following the end of your ice time.
Dressing rooms are available 30 minutes prior to your ice time and need to be vacated within 30 minutes following the end of your ice time. Dressing rooms are open with masks and 2m/6ft physical distancing required. Showers are available.
County of Brant
Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the Province of Ontario has reduced capacity at indoor recreational facilities, however our facilities remain open.
As of Sunday, December 19, 2021, spectators will no longer be able to consume food and drinks within the County’s Community Centres. Masks must remain on at all times. It is especially important for everyone to wear a well-fitted mask while indoors.
What does this mean for spectators?
•All food and drink must be consumed outside of the building.
•Vending machines are available for drinks to go.
•The concession stands are closed.
Players/participants will be able to consume water/sports drink while on the playing surface.
Please also note that no social activities will be able to occur in dressing rooms such as pizza after the game. Beverages are not to be consumed in dressing rooms and patrons are asked to vacate the dressing rooms as quickly as possible upon completion of their rental.
We also remind you that as of Monday, Dec. 20 all participants aged 12-17 are now required to provide proof-of-vaccination to enter the facility.
