Kingston Here We Come!
The U9 Select 99ers faced off for a second time against their cross-town rivals, The Brantford Saints, Saturday night at the Wayne Gretzky Center.
In their second meeting with the Saints, the 99ers came out flying right out of the gate!
At home Saturday Night, the U9 Select 99ers started the game hot scoring 4 goals in the first period. The 99ers continued their pace in the second, scoring 2 more before playing stingy D and strong positional play in the third to secure the 6-1 victory. The 99ers were outstanding hustling to the puck, making smart line changes, and crashing the net to secure the victory. The coaches were thrilled with the way the team played and are even more excited as it sets a great tone heading into their tournament in Kingston next weekend.
A special shoutout to our standout players: Camdon Eldridge and Thatcher Lawson, who both had strong performances in the win. Camdon provided great support for his teammates, hustling all game, passing and putting relentless pressure and effort on the puck. For a second straight game, Thatcher Lawson earned his helmet! Thatcher netting a goal of his own but his mark on the game was left by his strong defensive play and back-checking from the forward position. Congratulations and well-earned to our "Hardest Workers" of the game!
The Select 99ers will now prepare for their second tournament of the year, travelling to Kingston next weekend. They will open the tournament with 2 games on Friday vs. The Russell Warriors and The Ajax Pickering Raiders and then 2 on Saturday vs. The Kingston Canadians and The Oshawa Hawks.
