MINOR PEEWEE AAA TRAINING CAMP – 2019/2020 SEASON
Dear Players and Parents:
I would like to welcome all Players and Parents to the Minor Peewee AAA Training Camp for the 2019/2020 season. The purpose of this letter is to inform everyone involved about the tryout process and detail the Player expectations.
The Players will be evaluated by me and independent third party evaluators using an anonymous jersey number system. The evaluations will begin the moment the Players walk into the arena as they will be observed for both their behavior on and off the ice. The Training Camp will consist of skills and drills, inter-squad games and exhibition games. The first round of Player releases will take place following the second session and will be posted on the Minor Peewee AAA team tryout site. The final roster will be determined over a series of 6 exhibition games.
Players will be evaluated on the following:
• Hockey Skills and IQ
• Work Ethic and Compete Effort
• Attitude and Character
• Ability to Listen, Follow Direction and Execute
My hockey philosophy is centered in a hard work ethic, with the goal being to develop the Players both on and off the ice while having fun playing a game we all love. The practice plans will be challenging and physically demanding as we focus on core skating and puck handling skills. The integration of team tactics will follow and be incorporated into the weekly practice plans before the start of the regular season. Attendance at practice is mandatory. A Player’s ice time is a privilege and will be earned. We will foster a “Team First” culture and focus in on the habits and rituals that prioritize the Team First mentality in all Players.
All Players should arrive at Training Camp in good physical condition and be mentally prepared to compete and work hard. All roster positions will be earned. I am excited about the upcoming season and look forward to coaching the Brantford 99ers Minor Peewee AAA team. I wish the best of luck to all Players participating in Training Camp.
