99ERS Fall To Last Place Woodstock
A poor work ethic and giving up 10 powerplays again were the downfall of the Contractors Rental Supply Midgets on Sunday.  Traveling to Woodstock looking to rebound from their opening night loss to the last place Navy Vets, the 99ERS came up empty.

After a decent start the 99ers began coasting and being beaten off the wall cost the team the opening goal with just over 3 minutes to go in the period.  Looking like the team would escape only down one, 16 seconds to go in the period  and the face-off in the Woodstock end, all three forwards got trapped low and failed to backcheck as Woodstock broke out 3 on 2.  The initial shot was stopped, and the Brantford goalie thought he had the puck, but in reality it lay free in the crease for an easy tap in with 1.6 seconds to go in the period.

The only goal of the second period came courtesy of the powerplay just past the midway point.  A blown coverage on a Woodstock change left a player in the clear behind the 99er defense and they scored on the break away to go up 3-0.

Brantford was rewarded with one of their few powerplays on the night right near the end of the second and which carried over into the third.  With fresh ice and a good chance to get back into the game, the 99ers shot themselves in the foot when an unforced giveaway in their own zone combined with no effort to recover resulted in a short handed goal, a 4-0 lead for the home team.  Brantford did manage 1 goal when AP player Brayden Hill fired a puck on net and Matt General picked up the rebound beating the Woodstock goalie with a wrister to the blocker side with just under 12 minutes to go.  Any chance of more pressure and a possible comeback died when Brantford took 7 penalties in the period and really only mustered a few chances the best being a Brent Smolarz slapshot from just inside the blueline which beat the goalie but hit the post.  Woodstock improves to 2-10 while Brantford falls to 2-7-1

Next up for Brantford is to host the first place London Knights on Wednesday.
