Brantford Minor Hockey is pleased to welcome
Mike Christian as Head Coach of our U18 AAA 99ers. Mike brings strong communication
and leadership skills, along with a wealth of hockey experience to BMHA. His focus
with our U18 AAA team will be the development of players both as hockey players
and strong leaders in our community. Mike’s teams are known for playing
relentlessly, fast paced, with a high skill level and hockey aptitude.
Mike is President of the Brantford Jr B and
Paris Jr C Titans. The U18 AAA 99ers will be affiliated with the Titans. Mike
expects to utilize a strong connection with the Jr B organization to provide
high end skating and skill development to increase the experience of our AAA players.
Coaching Experience
Mike brings over 20 years of coaching
experience at minor and junior levels, including stops in Glanbrook, Dundas,
Caledonia and Paris.
Playing Career
Mike was drafted into the Ontario Hockey League
by the Guelph Storm and played for the Barrie Colts for four years. He was an
OHL Champion with Barrie and played in the Memorial Cup Final in 2000. Mike had
stops professionally with the Dallas Stars and the Detroit Red Wings of the
NHL.
Mike’s three keys to success for a coach of
a AAA hockey team are:
- Being present and taking
responsibility for the team (attendance).
- Having a good plan with focus
on development of the player for hockey and life.
- Having good connections to the
hockey world to promote players into the best possible situations.
