Toronto Titans Tournament – Game 1 Recap
The U18 AAA Brantford 99ers opened their season at the Toronto Titans Tournament, facing some early adversity. Falling behind 4–0 in the first period, the team struggled to recover from the deficit.
A bright moment came late in the opening frame when Josh Pizzey broke free on a breakaway and buried one to make it 4–1 heading into intermission. The second period saw both teams exchange goals. Colton Main rifled a shot from just inside the blueline, picking the top corner over the Express goalie to cut into the lead, making it 5–2.
Later in the period, a fortunate bounce went the 99ers’ way when an Express defender accidentally fired the puck into his own net. Credit for the goal went to Ryan Hammill Jr., bringing the game to 6–3 after two.
In the third, the 99ers made adjustments, tightened their play, and competed hard, but despite the strong push, tonight wasn’t their night. The team showed resilience and growth as the game went on and will be looking to carry that momentum into tomorrow’s matchup. Final Score: Express 7 – 99ers 3
