Champs in Ottawa!
Submitted By Monty Holland on Tue 10 30, 18
Coming off a heartbreaking Early Bird Tournament finals loss in Stratford, Monty Holland's Brantford 99'ers Atom A team were determined to make a fierce run at their next tournament, The Capital Volunteer Cup.

The team traveled to Ottawa in style, looking like a team of very excited little pros on a chartered team bus courtesy of GreenSpace. Winning all 4 games leading up to the finals, the team scored 27 goals and only allowed 3 while getting a shutout by both goalies Johnson and Cox. It seemed like the 99ers were destined to take home the cup against the unbeaten Ottawa Sting in the Final game.
It may have been tired legs or overconfidence, but Daniel Alfredsson’s Ottawa Sting came out of the gate strong, trapping the 99ers in their own zone several times in the opening minutes and getting the 1st goal of the game. Brantford refused to give up and came back strong scoring the next 3 goals of the game by Smith, Wallace and Harrington.  The Sting had one more push, scoring early in the 3rd but it didn’t last long, a goal by Macovi late in the 3rd put the game away, the Final Score 4-2.
The team returned to Brantford on the same Coach Bus, this time feeling more like pros than ever, very tired champs
