BMHA Accepting Applications for Vacant Positions on Board of Directors
Brantford Minor Hockey Association is in search of interested individuals to fill three vacant positions on our Board of Directors. 

1.2.9. Director of Representative Teams - AAA
1.2.10. Director of Representative Teams - AA/A/MD
1.2.12. Director of Communication and Social Media

Director of Representative Teams - AAA
Responsibilities include:
a. Be responsible for the complete operation of the AAA Representative Teams.
b. 
Have the authority to suspend and or reprimand coaches, assistant coaches, managers, trainers and convenors deemed not suitable to be appropriately carrying out their duties.
c. Chair the Representative Committee, and report all correspondence and business to the Board of Directors.
d. 
Attend all discipline committee meetings involving AAA Representative League issues.
e. 
Have the authority to administer the bylaws and policies established by the Association in conjunction with the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario, the Ontario Hockey Federation and Hockey Canada.
f. 
Approve personally, or by delegation, all necessary travel permits related to all AAA exhibition and tournament games.
g. 
Assist with AAA player rostering.
h. 
Be the liaison to all Ontario Hockey Federation affiliates and those of the Ontario Hockey League.

 

Director of Representative Teams - AA/A/BB/MD
Responsibilities include:
a. Be responsible for the complete operation of the AA/A/BB/MD Representative Teams.
b. 
Have the authority to suspend and or reprimand coaches, assistant coaches, managers, trainers and convenors deemed not suitable to be appropriately carrying out their duties.
c. 
Attend all discipline committee meetings involving AA/A/BB/MD Representative League issues.
d. 
Have the authority to administer the bylaws and policies established by the Association in conjunction with the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario, the Ontario Hockey Federation and Hockey Canada.
e. 
Approve personally, or by delegation, all necessary travel permits related to all  AA/A/BB/MD exhibition and tournament games.
f. 
Assist with AA/A/BB/MD player rostering.
g. 
Be the liaison to all Ontario Hockey Federation affiliates and those of the Ontario Hockey League.

 

Director of Communication and Social Media

Responsibilities include:
a. Assist the General Manager and Board of Directors with communicating important dates and information to the membership via website, social media, and email newsletters.
b. 
Utilize BMHA social media channels to communicate noteworthy achievements (on and off the ice), community involvement, and other relevant highlights on behalf of our teams.
c. 
Assist BMHA in promoting tournaments, special events, and association fundraisers to our membership, other minor hockey associations, and the general public.
d. 
Monitor, distribute, and respond to comments and direct messages on BMHA social media channels.
e. 
Help promote a culture of kindness, empathy, and encouragement on BMHA social media channels, while supporting community and like-minded associations’ social media channels through commenting, liking, and sharing of their content.
f. 
Help grow the game of hockey in our community and at BMHA with creative marketing and communication support.

 

6.0  BOARD OF DIRECTOR ELIGIBILITY AND ELECTIONS

 

6.1 To be eligible to be a Board member, nominees for the Board of Directors and incumbent

Board members must:

6.1.1 Be over the age of eighteen (18) years and be an individual;

6.1.2 Not be a person found under the Substitute Decisions Act, 1992 or under the Mental Health Act to be incapable of managing projects;

6.1.3 Not be a person who has been found incapable by any Court in Canada, or elsewhere;

6.1.4 Not be a person who has the status of bankrupt;

6.1.5 Be a member of the Association in good standing in terms of all payments to the Association, dues, etc., including without limitation the punctual payment of fees for any member’s child who plays for the Association;

6.1.6 Have been a volunteer in good standing at any level in the Association for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the commencement of the Board’s ensuing annual term, unless this requirement is waived by a vote of two-thirds of the Board of Directors;

6.1.7 Pass any screening requirements as determined by the Board (or designate);

6.1.8 Be bondable for positions on the Board of Directors positions that are involved with the handling of corporate or organizational funds;

6.1.9 Be in attendance at the annual General Meeting or Special Members’ meeting at which their nomination is being voted on and declare their interest in and time availability to fulfil their role as a Board member and the assigned role they would have on the Board of Directors, or provide in writing to the said meeting their interest in and time availability if they cannot attend the meeting.
