First Shift is open to boys and girls ages 6-10*, who have not previously registered for hockey. (*To be eligible to participate, children must be born between January 1, 2010 and March 1, 2015.)
First Shift is designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families. We want to take away any intimidation as it relates to equipment requirements, and/or rules of the game, remove potential safety concerns, and most importantly, provide an experience that is memorable and fun. Players are divided into small groups and rotate to various skills stations, ensuring varying skill development with a positive ratio of instructors to skaters.
Participant registration fee is $199 and includes:
- Bauer equipment (head-to-toe) that is yours to keep
- Welcome event with expert fit session and equipment distribution
- 6 on-ice sessions (1 hour on a consistent day and time)
- Focus on fun and learn to play
BMHA has been awarded two groups of 30 skaters. This has been a very popular program and spots will go quickly. Register early to avoid disappointment.
Scheduling is yet to be confirmed, but we are expecting a Welcome Event / Equipment Fitting in December, with on-ice sessions beginning mid to late December or early January. Sessions are expected to be held on Saturday’s at Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.
