Bantam Select's Capture Stoney Creek Winterfest Tournament.
Submitted By Kevin Murray on Wednesday, February 22, 2017
The Brantford 99ers Bantam Selects came out on top of 12 teams and were crowned Champions of the Stoney Creek 15th Annual Select Winterfest Hockey Tournament this past weekend.

The boys played hard and faced adversity several times over the course of 6 games, while also battling through various illnesses and injuries. However, with a relentless work ethic, positive attitude, team first mentality and superior skill level, the team was full value in their victory. It was a total team effort starting from the net out. The goaltending tandem of Caleb Hunks and Rylen Moore were instrumental and outstanding making big saves at key moments throughout the tournament while providing their teammates with much needed support and confidence between the pipes, as they have all season. The defense group of Ben Sandison, Finn Larmer, Jake Bester, Sasha Jarnikov and Riley Wilson were smothering, and protected both blue lines and the defensive zone with strength and determination while contributing regularly to the offense in all 6 games. The forward group of Nico Carmichael, Josh Beaulieu, Reit Smeda, Jayden Smith, Brendan Jozwiak, Spencer Hahn, Tony Tancredi, Kyle Lynch and Gavin Humphrey all showed their commitment to the entire 200 feet of ice and were responsible in all 3 zones, with a relentless fore check, responsible defensive play and being very difficult to play against while providing timely and creative offensive plays. The entire team again showed their skill level to be elite. The team missed the contributions of their teammate Raymond Barrett, out with an injury, but really appreciated his support from behind the boards all weekend. The coaches are most proud of the way the boys continue to represented themselves, their teammates and BMHA with class and sportsmanship. A big thank you to the parents and fans for their continued support.”
