99er AAA PreSeason Rumble
- Tournament
Teams are required to provide their travel permit prior the tournament.
- Electronic Gamesheets will be used for all games. Team officials must check-in at the tournament room or convenor table at least 30 minutes prior to game time. All team officials who will be on the bench for that game are required to personally sign the game sheet. iPads are not to be taken to the change rooms.
- Home team wears DARK, Visitor team wears LIGHT sweaters.
- Handshake will take place AFTER each game.
- Game Lengths
Teams shall be prepared to play 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start times.
All games will consist of 12-15-15 minute periods
- Mercy Rule
In the event of a 5-goal differential in the 3rd period the clock shall run until the differential is 3-goals. 2-minute penalties will be noted on the clock as 3 minutes. Players can not leave the box during a stop in play. (5-goal differential run time rule does not apply in Final games)
- Round-Robin Play and Playoff Format
10 Team Division: Teams will be split into 2 pools and play 4 round robin games.
Game 5's will be A1 vs B2 and B1 vs A2 semi-finals and winners will advance to a Final;
A5 vs B5; A4 vs B4; A3 vs B3; (no further advancement)
8 Team Division: Teams will play 4 round robin games.
Game 5's will be Seed 1 vs Seed 4 and Seed 2 vs Seed 3 semi-finals and winners advance to a Final;
Seed 7 vs 8; Seed 5 vs 6; (no advancement)
Note: An effort will be made for the non-advancement game 5's to avoid teams playing a team they played in the round robin if possible.
- Timeouts
One thirty-second timeout will be allowed in each PERIOD!
As a pre-season tournament we encourage the timeout to be used as teaching moments.
Timeouts are NOT allowed in overtime.
How to call a time-out: During a stoppage of play, a player on the ice must ask for the the time-out with either referee (if 2 official system) or the head referee (if 3 official system). If the other team wants a time-out during the same stoppage they must request this during the ongoing 30 second time-out at which time the new time-out starts.
- Standings
The ALLIANCE Hockey Policy 7.0: Tie-Breaker procedure will be used to determine standings. If the procedure reaches 7.1.4, penalty minutes from the Championship event would be calculated to break a tie.
- Overtime
A tie existing at the end of regulation time in a semi-final or championship game will be decided by sudden victory and the following shall apply:
- Each team will play with three skaters and a goalie until a winner is decided.
- Player changes may be made at any time during the overtime and teams may pull their goaltender.
- Penalties will carry over from regulation and overtime periods. Non-offending team will add a skater.
- No timeouts are allowed in overtime
- Protests and Video Review
Tournament staff will NOT review videos.
Tournament staff will NOT change player goals or assists.
Non-bench staff are NOT permitted in the Tournament room.
Complaints about officials can be made using a form available in the Tournament office at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.
All decisions made by the Tournament Committee are final
