What to expect when arriving at the arena.

  • Brantford (Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre, Civic Centre, Lion's Park) Coach/manager will be required to provide all team roster information including cell numbers.  Use this form: Team_Attendance_2021.doc
    • Parents and spectators will be required to show proof of vaccination and provide name and cell number.
    • In accordance with provincial regulations, the City of Brantford will be implementing the following
      updates for patrons attending City recreational facilities:
      • As of December 20, 2021, youth 12 to 17 years old are required to show proof of identification
      and vaccination or exemption to enter a recreational facility for purposes including organized
      recreational sport. Examples of proof of identification are a birth certificate, citizenship card,
      driver’s license, Government-issued identification card such as health card, Indian Status
      Card/Indigenous Member Card, Passport and permanent resident card. Student cards will not
      be accepted.
      o Note for clarification: For children born in 2010 who are participating in activities that
      require proof of vaccinations, they will be required to provide proof of vaccination 12
      weeks after their 12th birthday.
      • As of January 4, 2022, the City of Brantford will only accept the QR code issued by the
      Province of Ontario as proof of vaccination to enter a recreational facility. To download your

    • No external food/drink permitted in spectator and non-sport areas of any City facility.

    2. You will also be required to show Proof of vaccination.
  • Self-screening is required by all participants, volunteers and spectators prior to attending any game, practice, meeting or other in-person team activity and any individual shall not attend if they fail the screening protocol.
  • Anyone who has been out of the country prior to the tournament will need to have quarantined for 2 weeks.
  • Everyone must enter the arena at the designated entrance (Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre is the West entrance (at the side, not the front).
  • Do NOT allow others to enter through non-designated doors, this is against the law and could result in charges.  These doors will have alarms set.
  • Team pictures with the Wayne Gretzky statue should be done as you exit, any re-entry will require rescreening through the designated entrance.
  • Teams are expected to leave the arena within 30 minutes of the completion of their games.

Dressing Rooms

  • Players entering and exiting the arena ice surface should do so in an orderly fashion that allows a 6-foot distance to be maintained between players as much as possible.
  • On the bench: responsible bench person/manager only.
  • Players should wear masks while dressing and undressing.
  • Showers are permitted.
  • Please wipe down your equipment after each game.

Benches and on-ice

  • Coaches should not engage a player with high-fives or other physical contact.
  • Coaches will be masked when communicating closely with players.
  • No gum chewing or spitting
  • No handshakes, high fives or team huddles permitted.  Will line up on respective blue lines after the game and tap sticks on ice.
  • Any medals will be given to the coach for distribution.
  • Injuries: PPE will be worn by those attending to the individual.  The number of individuals attending to an injured player should be limited to the number necessary based on the severity of the injury. Team trainers will have first-aid kits that include latex/vinyl gloves and facemasks to help increase the safety of their interaction with the injured player

Game Sheets and Tournament Office

  • Only coaching staff are permitted in the Tournament Office.
  • Manager and/or Coach will approve the game sheets in the tournament office prior to the game.

If there is a potential case of, or suspected exposure to, COVID-19 within your team

  • Exclude the symptomatic person from attending the game.
Disposal of potentially infected waste
  • All potentially infected waste (i.e. disposable tissues, masks,  water bottles, protective gloves, etc.), hygiene, material, rubbish, debris, etc., in all shared spaces (change rooms, ice surface, benches, washrooms, etc.) shall be disposed of safely at the end of the in-person activity into on-site receptacles or taken home.
Consequences for non-compliance
  • Failure to abide by these rules will come with repercussions such as a warning, followed by a suspension.
