Currently, Brantford Minor Hockey is
still planning on running the Walter Gretzky House League Tournament January
7-9. We understand how important experiences like minor hockey tournaments are
to our youth and we hope by taking steps now, we can make it logistically
possible to host this event.
Due to the recent uncertainty of the Omicron variant and a number of tournament cancellations during the holidays, we are offering teams an opportunity to withdraw from the tournament. We would ask that any team that feels it would be best to withdraw, to do so by Tuesday, December 28 at 11 pm. A full refund would be provided. If your team plans to attend, no need to confirm with us, we’ll keep your spot.
This will give us the time to adjust the schedule and time for teams to adjust their plans. It allows BMHA to organize officials, timekeepers, and volunteers to provide a safe, first-class event for our participants.
We are aware that there is also the possibility that our Provincial Government could tighten restrictions, but this is out of our control.
To ensure a safe environment for participants, volunteers, and officials, BMHA makes the following recommendations for participating teams:
1. 1-2 guests per player allowed, except for young siblings. This will help reduce the number of people in a rink at any time.
2. We ask parents to please exit the building asap after a game. If you need to wait for a player then only one parent waits in the rink. Again, this will reduce the number of people in the buildings.
3. Players can only enter the rink 30 minutes before a game. Coaches can enter 45 minutes prior to game time to complete game sheets and any COVID paperwork.
