Good day past and present 99ers Coaches, I trust everyone is working hard and preparing for another season. For those 99ers coaches that are new to BMHA, welcome and thank you for your service. Allow me to take a moment and describe what has been my role with BMHA over the past three seasons.
I have worked to provide a support to all coaches in BMHA from a developmental perspective. Through personal presentation or through guest speakers I have attempted to bring an awareness to coach education and an open mindedness to development. I have also made an effort to communicate good resources over email and encourage our coaches to work together and share what is all the knowledge and experience they may have.
This 2019-20 season will see me adjust my approach slightly to focus on delivering what is the Hockey Canada NCCP Instructional Stream Materials. These materials include modules on Skating, Skills, Checking, Developing Defensemen, Shooting and Scoring and Small Area Games. These materials created by Hockey Canada are designed to assist us as coaches in learning how to properly teach our players what are the fundamental skills of the game. These sessions will include in class and on ice portions and will also count as credit towards your NCCP coach maintenance points.
Due to everyone's busy weekly schedule, I will attempt to deliver each session on multiple occasions. This scheduling is currently in progress and will be brought to your attention as soon as I can confirm the arrangements.
Until we can get this off the ground please see attached an overview to the NCCP Instructional Stream. These are materials that I am personally learning and will look to deliver them as best as I can. What will be a benefit is the information and perspective that we will see within these sessions.
