Minor Atom A 99'ers Champs Again!
Proving the 1st Tournament Championship in Barrie was no fluke the Brantford 99'ers Minor Atom A team wins their 2nd tournament in a row.  This time the 99'ers team won it at home in Brantford, in front of family and friends at the 48th Annual Wayne Gretzky International Tournament.

The 99'ers first game of the tournament was a chilly one at the Civic Centre. With a furnace under repair and the zamboni door stuck open, the 99'ers beat the Ancaster Avalanche 3-0 in a frozen toe, outdoor classic style game. Next the 99'ers took their only loss of the tournament to the Cambridge Hawks 2-1, a team that has alluded the 99'ers in regular league play this season as well. Putting that loss behind them the 99'ers went on to beat Halton Hills Thunder 5-1 and then again beating them in the Semi Finals 4-3 to make it to the tournament finals.
To add insult to injury, at the Wayne Gretzky Centre their new nemesis, the Cambridge Hawks got to sit on the Home side of the rink for finishing first in prelim play. However coming off a finals win in Barrie against a 1st place AA team the 99'ers knew exactly what it would take to win another championship. Brantford finished the 1st period in style, with a goal towards the end taking a 1-0 lead going into the 2nd. Brantford continued to work extremely hard, forechecking and getting pucks at the net securing the championship with 3 more goals and a 4-0 win over the Hawks and finishing 2017 with a bang.

Congrats 99'ers on another great tournament Victory!
