BMHA 99ers House League Update
Submitted By Rob Symons on Saturday, September 12, 2020
Brantford Minor Hockey is excited to get our House League season underway. Please review the following information closely, as start date differs by division. There is also key points for your first trip to the rink and a very urgent need for U9 (Novice) Head Coaches and Trainers.

U7 (Timbits and Tyke)

Tentative start date is Saturday, October 3
Planning is still underway for this group. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates.

U9 (Novice)

Tentative start date is Saturday, September 26
This has been a challenging season for attracting Head Coaches and Trainers for this group. Volunteers are the life blood of minor hockey and we need people to step up and assist. Start date may need to be pushed back further without enough volunteers.

If you are interested in joining our U9 division as a Head Coach or Trainer, please contact Duane and Julie Dumesnil via email at [email protected]

U11, U13, and U15 (Atom, Peewee, and Bantam)

Start date is Saturday, September 19
Times are posted now posted on the BMHA website
Coaches are being provided with their team rosters and they will reach out to families with team numbers and coach contact information. If you have not heard from a coach by Wednesday, September 16, please email key contacts at the end of this post.

U15 (Bantam) is looking for Head Coaches. If you are interested, please contact Jason Carver via email at [email protected]

U18 / U21 (Midget-Juvenile)

Start date will be in October.
Planning is still underway for this group. Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates.

Key points for your opening weekend are as follows:

- Come fully dressed as there will be no dressing rooms available.
- Be prepared to enter the arena 10 minutes before your on-ice start time.
- Players and parents will need to check-in with their coach for contact tracing attendance. We will be setting up the TeamSnap App soon to help with the logistics, but the first week will be manually done by coaches.
- No bags are permitted in the arena. Players must carry skates, gloves, helmet and stick into the arena designated on schedule. Skates can be tied outside if you have skate guards to wear in the lobby. For the safety of all participants, coaching staff will not be assisting with equipment.
- Only one parent is permitted in the rink per player. No siblings or other spectators will be permitted. The parent will be required to stay in the arena area that the player is in. There will be no roaming around the facility.
- Each player is to have their own water bottle and should fill it at home before coming to the rink.
- Everyone is to wear a mask or face covering in the facility. Players are included until they are ready to put a helmet on and enter the ice surface.
- Please bring skate guards if you have them.
- Once ice time expires players and parents will be required to leave the facility.
- For the full Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre spectator protocol, please CLICK HERE.

First 3 weeks will be skill development and evaluations. All players will need to bring their own jersey and socks for these sessions. Teams will consist of 9 players and 1 goalie with a max coaching staff of three people on the bench at any time - Head Coach, certified Trainer and optional Assistant Coach. Teams may be adjusted to ensure balanced rosters.

Head Coaches and Trainers Wanted

Previous coaching experience in hockey is not necessary. What we are looking for is good people who enjoy being a positive influence in young people’s lives, the opportunity of being part of hockey and gaining many new friendships along the way.

Coaches, Assistants, and Trainers will require at minimum, the following certifications before participating:
Police Check
Gender Identity Training – CLICK HERE
Respect in Sport (Team Staff) – CLICK HERE
