Stoney Creek Tournament Game 1 and 2
What a tournament, an intense first game and missed place equipment and as usual with these boys never a dull moment.

An early game Friday morning started us off with some major excitement.  We were up against Oakville Penguins and they started the scoring early in the first period.  Our boys kept them there with some great hockey.  Start of the second we were still down but one but finally mid-way through Matthew M managed to put one past there goalie assisted by Will R and Marcus S. There were more shots and more saves but we finally took the lead with a second goal scored unassisted by Will R.

Oakville managed to sneak one in but less than a minute later we tied it back up with a goal from Nathan M assisted by Owen T. And then with a tie score at the end of the third period, the edge of the seat excitement started.  Over time started with a minute period long of 3 on 3 that with players chosen before the game.  First up was Ethan H, Austin B and Marcus S.  After an exciting one minute and a goal that should have counted scored by Marcus S (called off by the ref stating it was after the buzzer), we were into a second minute of overtime. This time up was Will R, Kagan G and Bowen E.  Another minute of play and  more excitement but unfortunately still a tie game.

Now one on one play and Nathan M was up first.  An intense minute of play and some real physical hockey but no goals unfortunately.  Next up for another minute of one on one is Ashton W.  Not sure if anyone else realized how big the rink is when there is only two kids on it.   Ashton covered a lot of ice and with the help of Cole D in net another minute down with no goals scored.

With the pressure on our goalie Cole D who had played a great second half of the game and Matthew M, it was shoot out time.  Matthew made a great shot but their goalie managed to stop it and although we all agree the goal that did manage to get by Cole shouldn’t have counted as the player lost possession at the blue line, the game was done with a victory for Oakville.  Great game boys, you all worked hard.  Time for breakfast before the our second game at 12:30pm.

Game 2 Brantford vs Ancaster

Well this game didn’t go as well as we had hoped but boys still had smiles on their faces and any day at the rink is a great day.  Ancaster started the scoring off early in the first period but our boys continued play hard and work together and at the end of the first period we were only down by one.  Second period meant more goals but unfortunately none of them were for us.  Three quicks goals for Ancaster left us down by four heading into the third period.  Ancaster managed to sneak one more in early in the third but we managed to sneak one past their goal with just over five minutes left to play in the third.  Goals scored by Will R and assist going to Marcus and Owen Turk.  Another great game boy’s home to rest up for another game tomorrow.
