99ers Drop One to Woodstock
Despite a good third period effort, the Contractors Rental Supply Midgets dropped a tough one on the road in Woodstock.  Blaise Burtnick who moved up to forward to support a short bench scored the lone goal for the visitors as the team dropped a 2-1 decision to Woodstock.

Insert Burtnick

Looking to pick up another road win and solidify their spot and first round playoff match, the CRS midgets braved a significant snow event and played in Woodstock on Sunday.  For a game played on such a large ice surface, the play was sloppy and inconsistent which matched the level of the officiating.

The 99ers found themselves short handed only 10 seconds into the game as they were called for a penalty on the first contact from the drop of the puck, an indicator of what was to come that did not go unnoticed by many.  Then team was successful in killing off two penalties in the first, but found themselves down by one as they broke down on an offensive zone coverage leading to an odd-man rush.  A poor back compounded the issue and the Home team was able to hit the board with just under 7 minutes to go in the period.

There was no scoring in the second, despite good chances by both teams but those efforts were equaled by both goaltenders.

In the third, the 99ers got the equalizer with just 5 minutes gone when Burtnick jammed home a loose puck from the side of the crease, after some hard work by Tyler Schaeffer and Andrew Schunk.  The Brantford boys continued to push for the lead until a very questionable call, followed by a bench minor for a totally acceptable comment took their momentum away and lead to the home team scoring a rebound goal after an extended PK.

Next up for the 99ers is a return date with the third place Bandits.
